Otaku Collection #6 | 30th December 2017

This update has been delayed for way too long. It's been around 16 months since my last major complete collection update, and I got way more than I had anticipated. Between the months that had passed I finished my third & final year of University and managed to get certain items once I returned home.

If you like a quick recap on the previous update, here's my post on the 5th collection from back in September 2016. Nevertheless, here is my 6th collection update. There's a lot of new additions this time around and some areas weren't updated so I omitted them out (retro games and consoles for example).

Remember the Otaku Collection updates contain anime, manga, asian cinema films, video games and anything related to these topics. So let's begin!

At the top of my book shelf are a couple boxes and some of the larger-sized books. The newest additions for this area is the Final Fantasy XV Strategy Guide Hardcover and the Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter Exclusive Artbook.

For the main book shelf I had re-arranged a lot of the rows as more items were purchased. For the first row (from top to bottom) we have Sentai Filmworks as well as one Nozomi/Rightstuf title and the Visual Novels, plus the collector's edition of Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash!

For Sentai Filmworks these are all of the premium limited edition sets that I have acquired so far. I won't be collecting all of them as the prices are debatable and they can take up a lot of space. Since the last update we have some new additions; Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Mine, Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions! Heart Throb, and Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls. I got very lucky with Monster Musume because it actually went out of print before it even got released so I was happy to order it for a solid price thanks to WOW HD.

For the visual novels the only new addition is Suda51's The Silver Case, which I did play via the PlayStation 4 version and I really enjoyed it. There's a sequel coming in 2018 called The 25th Ward which I also plan to get whenever possible.

On the second row we have Aniplex of America. Surprisingly I actually added some more titles to this section, despite the currently rate being tedious for most of the months between the last update and present. Monogatari franchise got some new additions enough to slowly catch up - Kabukimonogatari, Otorimonogatari, Onimonogatari, Koimonogatari, Hanamonogatari as well as Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu and Kizumonogatari Part 2: Nekketsu. That's all of Monogatari's Second Season arcs as well as 2/3rd of the Kizumonogatari movie trilogy. Meanwhile I also acquired Nisekoi volumes 3 & 4 and even Sword Art Online Extra Edition which has been out of print for over a year.

And here is where a lot of the new additions went. The third row of the book shelf provides a stack of Funimation limited edition sets. In the previous collections I had them placed under two rows which did take up a lot of space, but in this instance I had to place one row in front of the other. There were only a couple new additions for Funimation limited edition-wise; Assassination Classroom Season 1 from Funimation UK, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Danganronpa the Animation, High School DxD BorN, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, OVERLORD from Funimation UK and Rage of Bahamut: Genesis from Funimation UK. Outside of the limited edition sets I also have the second half for Assassination Classroom, Eureka Seven, Eureka Seven AO, and Space Dandy inside the respective boxes of the first half.

Next up on the fourth row is Anime Limited. Oh wow this certainly grew a lot compared to the last update. So many titles were acquired thanks to a combination of sales/bargains, MCM Comic Con, and early bird pre-orders. The new additions are as follows from the back part of the row; Ajin: Demi-Human Season 1, Aldnoah Zero Season 1, The Anthem of the Heart, Belladonna of Sadness, Blood Blockade Battlefront, Blood Lad, The Case of Hana & Alice, Claymore, Eden of the East, ERASED Part 1, Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (not) Alone, Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Season 1, Free! Eternal Summer, Full Metal Panic! Seasons 1-3, Fuse: Memoirs of a Hunter Girl, Genius Party & Genius Party Beyond, Gundam Reconguista in G, Hyouka Part 1, Mai Mai Miracle, Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Parts 1-2, and Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Part 1.

On the front part of the row; Noein ~to your other self~, Ouran High School Host Club, Outlaw Star, Persona 3 the Movies 1-4, The Place Promised in Our Early Days/Voices of a Distant Star, Prison School, Psychic School Wars, Psycho-Pass 2, Psycho-Pass: The Movie, Samurai Flamenco Part 2, A Silent Voice, Sword Art Online II Parts 2-4, Sword of the Stranger, The Tatami Galaxy, Tokyo ESP, Tokyo Marble Chocolate, Your Lie in April Parts 1-2, and Your Name.

So yeah there's a lot. In fact there are actually three more titles incoming but there were shipment delays.

For the last two rows of the book shelf I have a variety of titles. On the fifth row we have Universal Pictures, MVM, Studio Canal, Anchor Bay, Beez, Sony, Funimation UK, Eureka, Pied Piper, Bandai Visual/Honneamise, Viz Media, and Funimation US.

The newest additions for Universal Pictures is pretty much the rest of the anime titles they released in neat collector's edition sets; The Heroic Legend of Arslan Parts 1-2, and Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya. For MVM I decided to acquire the UK Blu-ray versions for Berserk (1997), Love Live! Seasons 1 & 2, and Serial Experiments Lain. Studio Canal adds The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and The Wind Rises. All four of Funimation UK are new to the list; Absolute Duo, Gonna Be the Twin-Tail!!, Mikagura School Suite, and No-Rin. Eureka Entertainment's release of Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis is a new addition also. I even managed to acquire the out of print FREEDOM box set for the Bandai Visual/Honneamise collection.

On the sixth row of the shelf we have NIS America, the Ultimate Edition sets for Anime Limited, and the Asian Cinema collection. Funimation's Darker Than Black premium edition is also there on the far right side. The newest addition for this row in terms of anime are Nyaruko: Crawling With Love Season 2 from NIS America and The Vision of Escaflowne from Anime Limited. For the Asian live-action cinema collection the new additions are The Handmaiden from Curzon Artificial Eye and Shin Godzilla from Manga Animatsu.

Next up we have the next shelf on the right of the main book shelf. This is where all of my video games related to PlayStation are located plus the Manga UK/Animatsu and Warner Bros titles (which are on the sixth row).

The first two views contain all of my localised/western developed PlayStation 3 games and some of my PlayStation 4 games. I tried my best to get as many games as I could for the PS3 and I'm happy to acquire as many as 72 games at the time of this update (the Japanese imports are in the next part below). The new additions for the PS3 collection are as follows from the first row; Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Catherine, Dragon's Crown, Dragonball Z: Budokai HD Collection, Drakengard 3, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, Far Cry 3, God of War HD Collection, The House of the Dead Overkill Director's Cut, Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Classics HD, Killer is Dead, Killzone 3, Mafia II, and MotorStorm Apocalypse.

The new additions for the PS3 collection are as follows from the second row are; Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Saints Row 2, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, Shadows of the Damned, Sonic Generations, Soul Calibur V, SSX, Tales of Xillia 2, Under Defeat HD, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, and Zone of the Enders HD Collection.

The PlayStation 4 also saw a massive increase in titles with 41 games already. While most are on the fourth row, I've got some of the titles placed in the second & third rows. New additions for the PS4 collection are as follows from the second row are; Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed, Arslan: The Warriors of Legend, Berserk and the Band of the Hawk, and Bioshock: The Collection.

Now we are on the next view which covers PlayStation Vita plus the Vita imports, as well as the rest of the anime from the UK with Manga UK/Animatsu and Warner Bros.

PlayStation Vita is at its end, let's be honest about that, but the games released for it have been pretty solid and I've managed to acquire a lot since the last update. The new additions included are; Demon Gaze, Everybody's Golf, Freedom Wars, Gal*Gun: Double Peace, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, Killzone Mercenary, Persona 4 Dancing All Night, Soul Sacrifice, Superbeat XONIC, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Valkyrie Drive -Bhikkhuni-Ys: Memories of Celceta, IA/VT -COLORFUL- and Miracle Girls Festival [ミラクルガールズフェスティバル]. I also managed to acquire the PlayStation TV which was going up in price and selling out fast.

Only a couple titles have joined the Manga Animatsu collection with Akira (2016 re-release), Beyond the Boundary -I'll Be Here-, Blue Exorcist Parts 1 & 2, and In This Corner of the World.

For this view we have the mini shelf that's on top of another mini-shelf. Here is all of the Blu-ray sized standard edition sets for Funimation and Sentai Filmworks mixed in together. There's also my CDs underneath with the boxes for the limited edition games.

The new additions of the Funimation sets are mostly from the Anime Classics line with Black Butler Season 1, Deadman Wonderland, Sekirei/Sekirei: Pure Engagement, Spice & Wolf Seasons 1 & 2, and Steins;Gate. The new additions of the Sentai Filmworks sets are Amagami SS, Amagami SS+, and Children Who Chase Lost Voices. The DVD cases for Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? and Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls which have Blu-ray discs are included in this shelf as their limited edition boxes are rather complex to open.

In the CD pile I also acquired some Japanese imports with Susumu Hirasawa's Ash Crow album, the Garden of Sinners soundtrack, and Monogatari's Utamonogatari OP/ED collection.

Here we have my books - manga and light novels to be exact. Not much as been made with this unfortunately due to massive backlog of anime to acquire. I did get some since the last update though.

For manga we have the first volume of BLAME! from Vertical and all four volumes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2: Battle Tendency from Viz Media. For the light novels we have Goblin Slayer novel 1, Bakemonogatari novel 1, and the first two novel volumes of OVERLORD.

View 10:

And here we have the manga box sets. There's only one new addition this time and that's the third One Piece box set containing volumes 47-70 which covers the arcs Thriller Bark all the way to the introduction of Dressrosa.

Last but not least an update on the Nintendo 3DS collection. I managed to acquire two more titles before they went out of print with Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX and Tales of the Abyss.

---

That's it for this update! A lot of pure luck came for a fair amount of these titles especially with the bargain titles back in February and the PlayStation 3 hauls throughout the summer. There were a lot of titles I wanted to acquire early on during my time at University like Fate/Stay Night [Unlimited Blade Works] but the currency rate was absolutely horrendous. Thankfully the rate has been getting better but not as much as it used to be.

The seventh update won't be as big as the sixth due to my current situation but I hope 2018 will end up being a positive one for myself in terms of where I can go next.
