Unboxing/Overview: One Piece Manga Box Sets 1, 2 & 3

After waiting two years I finally have access to the next batch of volumes for the long-running shonen series One Piece. And I figured it would cool to share the other two box sets alongside the current one, so this is an overview for Box Sets 1 & 2 and an unboxing for Box Set 3!

TO ONE PIECE!

One Piece is a long-running fantasy adventure series from Eiichiro Oda and has been serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump (Jump Comics in Japan) since 1997. It has now been nearly 20 years but the manga's story is only 65% done with over 83 volumes available at the time of this post. The story of One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy as he accidently eats a forbidden fruit which gives him rubber abilities at the cost of not being able to swim, but that doesn't matter as he's motivated to search all around the world, meeting new companions and enemies, in search for the One Piece treasure.

Anywho, eventually Viz Media put out box sets of the manga to help folks get into the series. I liked what I read of the first omnibus so I asked for the box sets each christmas (1 in 2013, 2 in 2014 and 3 (the current one) in 2016). Each box set can be picked up for about £80-85 which is a great deal compared to buying each volume individually at £6-7 each.

Box Set 3: Volumes 47-70

The set contains the following contents:

 - Thriller Bark Saga: Volumes 47-50

 - Summit War Saga: Volumes 50-61

 - New World/Fishman Island Saga: Volumes 61-66

 - New World/Dressrosa Saga: Volumes 66-70

 - One Piece x Dragon Ball cross-over & One Piece x Toriko cross-over Manga

Note that Dressrosa still has more volumes to cover after volume 70 so you basically end in the middle of the arc.
