Unboxing [UK]: Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya - Season 1: Collector's Edition (Blu-ray)

In addition to the Funimation items I also acquired some Anime Limited sets from MCM Birmingham. These were pretty solid deals so I decided to grab them sooner than later.

Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya is a 2013 anime adaptation of the manga of the same name from studio Silver Link and published by Kadokawa Pictures. This is a spin-off to the Fate/Stay Night franchise where it focuses on Illya with a magical girl spin to the mix. The later parts of the franchise has received some form of controversy due to its fanservice but other than that it's gained a good amount of positive feedback from both fans of the Fate franchise and viewers of the anime series. This show was also £20 at MCM so I couldn't say no to that.

The Anime Limited Collector's Edition release offers more than what Sentai Filmworks did with their version. The UK collector's set contains the entire first season in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles plus a 48 page booklet and 4 tarot cards housed inside a box with a digipack for the discs. The Blu-ray contents are identical to the Sentai Filmworks version so you're not missing out at all, however it has been tweaked to offer white subtitles and LPCM audio instead of DTS-HD. The region is B only and the subtitles are locked.

Blu-ray Specs:
Languages: Japanese, English
Audio: LPCM 2.0 [Japanese, English]
Video: 1080p HD Native 16:9

Subtitles: English
Subtitles Locked: No

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited):
Sometimes a different decision has an entirely different outcome.

From normal school girl to magical girl, Illyasviel von Einzbern's normal night has taken a turn for the unexpected. A magical wand called Kaleidoscope Ruby has rejected her old master and has instead set her sights on Illya to become the next great magical girl. Tasked with the duty of collecting the seven legendary Class Cards, Illya at least has the guidance of Rin Tohsaka, Ruby's previous owner, to help her. Except she isn't the only one to fall prey to magic, with classmate Miyu the new owner of Kaleidostick Sapphire, Ruby's younger half. As the pair are forced into battle, just what do these opinionated wands have installed for the unlikely group.
