Unboxing [UK]: Absolute Duo - Complete Series (BD/DVD)

I went to MCM Birmingham once again and have come back with a couple more titles. I have decided to venture into the Funimation UK catalogue and bought a few of the titles available.

Absolute Duo is a 2015 anime adaptation of the novel of the same name from studio 8bit and published by Kadokawa Pictures. This show has not seen the best of reviews but I picked it up anyway.

This is a Funimation title for the UK so it's tweaked slightly compared to the North American version. For starters the UK set doesn't come with a slipcover and the BBFC is on the cover art. The inside contents don't even have any inside art whatsoever which is odd considering the others do. The 12 episode series comes with both an English dub and original Japanese audio with English subtitles. The regions for this set are identical to the US version by the looks of it, so A|B|1|2|4 with NTSC DVDs while the subtitles are locked.

Plot Synopsis (via Funimation):
Welcome to the prestigious Koryo Academy of Absolute Duo! A special school where students train to fight with weapons that are manifestations of their souls. On the outside, Tor Kokonoe seems like a regular academy student. But while his classmates carry swords, kunai, and axes into battle, his soul becomes a shield.

As the students pair up in order to reach their full potential, Tor is partnered with the mysterious and exotic Julie. What he doesn’t realize is that their partnership means they’ll have to do everything together—fight, attend class, and even sleep in the same room! As the strangely affectionate girl begins pushing his boundaries to the limit, the other girls in his class start taking notice. While he’s fighting to make the grade, he’ll have to fend off the advances and attention from the tomboyish Tomoe, the meek Miyabi, and the exceptionally talented Lilith—a shield might be just what he needs after all!
