Unboxing [UK]: Outlaw Star - Complete Series: Collector's Edition (Blu-ray)

The fifth and last (but not least) MCM pickup is another Sunrise show - Outlaw Star.

It was Anime Limited's second license and now the Blu-ray is available!

Outlaw Star (Seihou Bukyou Outlaw Star) is an 1998 sci-fi series from Sunrise. The show ran for 24 episodes and has become a classic among anime fans thanks to its appearance on Adult Swim and being one of the three go-to shows back in the late 90s/early 00s anime boom (the others being Cowboy Bebop and Trigun).

Outlaw Star did receive a release from Beez Entertainment here in the UK (while Bandai handled the North American version). Both ended up going out of print due to the distributors disbanding. Anime Limited rescued the show in January 2013 while Funimation acquired a Sunrise package deal during that year at Otakon which included the show. Anime Limited released the show on DVD at first using the best master available at the time, and not long after the Blu-ray Disc Box was revealed in Japan which had a proper HD remaster (a lot of shows do simply get Q-Tec upscales which doesn't look great).

The Anime Limited Collector's Edition was revealed only a couple months ago at the time of this post. And it comes with pretty much the same contents as the Japanese Blu-ray Disc Box (with some minor differences). For starters the UK set includes the English dub and original Japanese audio with optional English subtitles. The 26 episodes and on-disc extras are spread across 4 Blu-ray discs and it is region locked to B. The Collector's Edition contents include a chipboard box matching the BD-Box design and a 100-page booklet.
