Random Topic: Round-Up of Autumn 2015's Legal Anime UK Streaming List

Considering I made a post dedicated to this a couple months back, I decided to do the same for the Autumn 2015 season. I will only cover what was available for the UK & Ireland.

Despite the first season of Utawarerumono was rescued by Funimation, Sentai picked up The False Faces and added to Crunchyroll!

Summer 2015 started and finished on a strong note, we had a lot of catalogue titles and most of the main anime shows were made available for the UK. Now the question is, has the same effect occurred with the next season? Let's find out.

Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll has always been the best anime site to use for everyone outside USA & Canada, in fact pretty much almost all of the new simulcast titles added were made available for the UK with the exception of one title ~ which ironically was licensed by a UK distributor and added to a different streaming site.

The following titles available for simulcast include:
 - Angel Heart [J-Drama]
 - Anime de Training EX!
 - Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day [J-Drama]
 - Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon
 - The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water
 - Beautiful Bones -Sakurako’s Investigation-
 - Bottom Biting Bug Season 4
 - Brave Beats
 - Cardfight!! Vanguard G GIRS Crisis
 - DD Fist of the North Star: Strawberry Flavour
 - DD Fist of the North Star II
 - Diabolik Lovers II: More,Blood
 - Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Exodus Season 2
 - Forget Me Not [J-Drama]
 - The File of Young Kindaichi Returns Season 2
 - HackaDoll the Animation
 - Haikyu!! Season 2
 - Hakone
 - Is the Order a Rabbit??
 - JK-MESHI!
 - Kagewani
 - Komori-san Can't Decline
 - Lance N' Masques
 - Lovely Muuuuuuuco!
 - Magical Somera-chan
 - Miss Monochrome -The Animation- 3
 - Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
 - Mr. Osomatsu
 - Owarimonogatari
 - The Peeping Life TV Season 1??
 - The Perfect Insider
 - Shin Atashinchi
 - Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note
 - Teekyu 6
 - The Testament of Sister New Devil Burst (Shinmai Maou no Testament Burst)
 - Ultraman X [J-Drama]
 - Utawarerumono: The False Faces
 - World Trigger: Fugitives from Another World
 - Young Black Jack
 - Yuru Yuri Season 3

The following catalogue titles made available include:
 - Beelzebub
 - Gintama: Jump Special Anime Festa 2015
 - Kuroko's Basketball OVAs

Crunchyroll did provide a bunch of catalogue titles but they were only accessible to USA & Canada. The reason behind this is because they were offered by distributors Discotek Media and Nozomi/Rightstuf.

Daisuki

Daisuki also stepped up a bit by providing a couple more simulcasts for the UK, two of which were exclusive (well one of them was until Funimation licensed it without mentioning it, but it was still available for everyone outside America). Unlike the summer season, the new Funimation titles added were not accessible to the UK. Unfortunately there are some bad news, as a bunch of titles expired from the service but all are available on other existing sites like Crunchyroll.

The following titles available for simulcast include:
 - The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water
 - Cardfight!! Vanguard G GIRS Crisis
 - Concrete Revolutio
 - HackaDoll the Animation
 - Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
 - Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin II - Artesia's Sorrow - Payment required
 - One Punch Man
 - Owarimonogatari

The following titles delisted:
 - Aldnoah Zero
 - Black Butler: Book of Circus
 - Buddy Complex
 - Hanamonogatari
 - Persona 4 the Golden ANIMATION
 - Sword Art Online: Extra Edition
 - Sword Art Online II

Viewster

Viewster is still growing strong, though unfortunately this time they seem to have drifted away from their focus on the UK and expanded to North America thanks to their collaboration with Sentai Filmworks as well as their special Omakase service, which I originally thought would benefit a lot for the UK, turned out to pretty much be the exact opposite. And for some reason a couple Funimation titles from Winter 2015 were randomly removed, with no warning whatsoever.

The following titles available for simulcast include:
 - Comet Lucifer
 - A Chivalry of a Failed Knight
 - K: Missing Kings
 - Seraph of the End -Battle in Nagoya-

The following catalogue titles made available include:
 - Basquash!
 - No Game No Life

The following titles delisted:
 - Death Parade
 - Fairy Tail Series 2 (not removed but the site will no longer get new episodes)
 - Ouran High School Host Club
 - The Rolling Girls
 - Yatterman Night

Animax UK

Believe it or not, this is a weird season for Animax. They added a bunch of titles for once, mostly from Funimation, while they also delisted literally all of Anime Limited's content (Gundam Reconguista in G is the last remaining title) as well as the two Funimation titles randomly added in September.

The following titles available for simulcast include:
 - Aria the Scarlet Ammo Double A
 - Attack on Titan: Junior High
 - Dance With Devils
 - Fairy Tail Series 2 (Viewster took over for Episodes 240-252 but now Animax is taking over again)
 - Heavy Object
 - Noragami Aragoto
 - One Punch Man
 - Shomin Sample
 - Valkyrie Drive -Mermaid-

The following catalogue titles made available include:
 - 009 Re:Cyborg
 - Giovanni's Island
 - Patema Inverted

The following titles delisted:
 - 009 Re:Cyborg - Yep, this only lasted a couple months
 - Durarara!!
 - The Garden of Words
 - Giovanni's Island - Yep, this only lasted a couple months
 - HAL
 - Patema Inverted - Yep, this only lasted a couple months
 - Perfect Blue
 - The Place Promised In Our Early Days
 - Overlord - Yep, this only lasted a couple months
 - Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace - Yep, this only lasted a couple months
 - Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning
 - Tiger & Bunny: The Rising

Netflix

Like Animax, Netflix has just gotten a weird season with a lot of catalogue titles being added like it was nothing, but the best ones appeared in January (which I'll save for the Winter 2016 list). One major addition was rumoured for well over a year and it turned out to be true - The Seven Deadly Sins is now legally available, with an English dub option!

The following catalogue titles made available include:
 - Bleach Season 1-3
 - Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
 - Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
 - The Seven Deadly Sins
 - Yuki Yuna is a Hero

Other Sources

The Animator Expo ended in the summer and the individual episodes have been removed/added every now and then.

YouTube channels also provided a couple legal shows. GundamInfo (the official Gundam channel) added Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz with English subtitles, and Monster Strike is available legally dubbed on its official channel.

Viki has delisted a bunch of anime titles, leaving Ozma and M3 The Dark Metal as the sole remaining titles. Both of them are also on Crunchyroll.

The Anime Network updated its website and re-designed it but pretty much placed all of the content under a paywall, effectively making the site pointless for UK & Ireland owners as it's essentially a US only site.

So that's it for the Autumn season, it has its ups and downs but Crunchyroll managed to get most of them which is great. As much as I like Viewster, they keep taking a couple steps backwards when it comes to anime streaming and with Animax no longer streaming Anime Limited titles I do hope Andrew Partridge (El Presidente of Anime Limited) carefully makes a decision on what site is best for his titles. Next season (Winter 2016) is progressing pretty well and with Funimation entering the UK market (I'll have a separate post on this), the UK streaming side is improving quite a lot.
