Unboxing [US]: Sailor Moon - Set 1 (Season 1 Part 1): Limited Edition (BD/DVD)

MOON PRISM POWER... MAKE UP! The classic show returns uncut and uncensored legally for Blu-ray and DVD.

Sailor Moon is a very old show released during the 1992-1993 season (literally 20 years old) and was one of Toei's most popular shows. Sailor Moon and its sequels are based on the manga of the same name. The difference between the two is that the show included a lot of filler plots due to the material being caught up, in fact Sailor Moon Crystal is where it adapts the manga properly.

This version I have for the show is the US Limited Edition set from Viz Media. The limited edition sets contains the first half of Season 1 episodes (1 to 23) on both formats, an 88 page booklet which includes episode guides, lyrics and more, and a chipboard artbox to hold both parts of the season.

There's one major thing that I should point out with this release, and I'll sum it up in bullet points:
 - The Blu-ray is an in-house upscale from Viz Media, there is no HD master in Japan.
 - The DVDs have some controversial video quality issues which some claim to be worse than the Japanese 2009 release and the recent KAZE European releases.
 - The English dub included in this release is NOT the same dub many will remember from decades back. The Viz Media dub was made to cover the show's uncut content and be more true to the original material (the original dub was altered to change some characters and others for censorship reasons).

The discs are region locked to A and 1 - in other words only Blu-ray players and DVD players from A/1 zones will work (i.e. North America) or of course a multi-regional player. The set contains locked subtitles during playback.

In addition to the Limited Edition set, customers who ordered the set from Right Stuf also receive this coin. Somehow it was also included in my United Publications order.
